Nueva Zelanda está de moda en Galicia

Hoy leyendo El País nos encontramos con una noticia que nos pareció muy curiosa por las similitudes que aparecen entre Galicia y Nueva Zelanda. ¿Sabiais que el pájaro representativo de este país se llama "Tui", como el ayuntamiento pontevedrés?, y que en la costa oeste, cerca del mar, hay un pueblo que se llama "Aranga", igual que el ayuntamiento coruñés?

Varios investigadores neozelandeses están estos días por Galicia para averiguar si fueron españoles o portugueses los primeros en llegar a la isla ya que la historia señala al inglés Cook como el primero en pisarla en el año 1769.

Otra curiosidad que pudimos encontrar en la noticia es que en el patio de la comisaría de Monte Alto en A Coruña crece, desde hace cientos de años un árbol originario de Nueva Zelanda, un metrosidero o pohutukawa, como dicen los maoríes.


New Zealand is in fashion in Galicia

While we were reading 'El Pais' today, we found a piece of news that seems to us very peculiar because of the similarities shown between Galicia and New Zealand. Do you know that the representative bird of this country is called 'Tui', like the Galician municipality in Pontevedra? And that on the West coast, near the sea, there is a town called 'Aranga' like the Galician one in A Coruña?

Some New Zealander researchers are currently in Galicia in order to know if the first people arriving the island were Spanish or Portuguese people. Historically it's said that the British explorer Cook was the first person in arriving the island in 1769.

Another curiosity that we found in the piece of news is that in the yard of the police station of Monte Alto in A Coruña is grewing a centenary tree from New Zealand, a 'metrosidero' or 'pohutukawa' as it's called by the Mahori people.

That makes 100 visits per day, an inthinkable idea for us when we started this adventure. The number, as you can see, is a round one. Congratulations to everybody!!!

Aunque va a ser dfícil quedar con ellas, ahí estamos. Ellas nos apoyaron en esto del Mensaje a Lomu y ahora el Messenger hace todo lo demás.

Lomu confirma que vuelve a jugar y ficha por el Vitrolles de Marsella

En una entrevista concedida a la web del Club Vitrolles de Marsella, Jonah Lomu anuncia hoy su fichaje por el equipo francés. La publicación neozenlandesa "Rugby Heaven" también se hace eco de la noticia.

El mítico jugador neozenlandés afirma que quiere aportar su experiencia para que el Vitrolles de Marsella se una al grupo de los grandes clubes de rugby del mundo.

"Todavía siento la necesidad de jugar y solo seré yo quien decida cuándo se pone punto final a mi carrera", afirma el jugador, que con 34 años, desde 2004 no ha podido volver a alcanzar el nivel de excelencia que le había llevado a ganar 63 partidos para los All Blacks entre 1994 y 2002.

Lomu dice que todos aquellos que pensaron que su carrera había terminado estaban en un error.


Lomu confirms that he will play again and signs up for the Marseille Vitrolles

In an interview for the web of the club Marseille Vitrolles, Jonah Lomu has announced today his signing for the French club. The Neozealander publication "Rugby Heaven" also has echoed this piece of news.

The mythical Neozealander player declares that he wants to contribute with his experience in order the Marseille Vitrolles can join the group of great rugby clubs of the world.

"I still feel the need to play and only I will decide when it's the end of my career", states the 34 years-old player that since 2004 has not been able to reach the excellence level that allowed him to win 63 games for the All Blacks, between 1994 and 2002.

Lomu says that all the people that thought that his carreer had finished made a mistake.
